About

tHE PURPOSE

The phrase 'beyond the powers' is the English translation of the Latin phrase 'ultra vires'. It is a legal term which means ‘acting beyond one’s legal authority’. Ultra vires, also referred to as ‘illegality’, is also one of the grounds for judicial review and is cited where a public authority (or an organisation performing a public function) goes beyond the scope of what it is authorised to do by law i.e. a police officer using excessive force during an arrest is ultra vires. The purpose of this website is to offer assistance and support to those who have been subject to misconduct, abuse, corruption, brutality or any form of unfair treatment at the hands of a state actor or organisation.

Here, we truly believe in the rule of law. Your personal, political, religious views or otherwise do not matter. What does matter is holding public authorities to account, educating the masses, achieving justice for victims and highlighting misconduct.

On this website you will find an array of resources such as articles, interviews and videos, as well as journalistic-style content and exclusive stories.

Please do not ask for legal advice (paid or unpaid) as it will not be given.
